Danish furniture brand Fritz Hansen has acquired Danish furniture company Skagerak and will now add outdoor furniture to its product line.
Skagerak, which was founded in Denmark in 1976, was purchased by Fritz Hansen as part of its “ambitious” growth strategy which aims to “strengthen distribution channels and showrooms in Asia, Central Europe and in North America “.
No financial details of the acquisition of the company that designs and manufactures interior and exterior furniture have been revealed.
“Skagerak and Fritz Hansen get married naturally”
The purchase of Skagerak means that Fritz Hansen will now sell outdoor furniture in addition to his existing furniture, lighting and accessories.
Skagerak’s products include pieces such as the Lily indoor and outdoor furniture collection, designed in collaboration with Danish architecture firm BIG.
“Skagerak and Fritz Hansen get married naturally,” said Josef Kaiser, CEO of Fritz Hansen.
“Both are rooted in Nordic design traditions and responsible manufacturing and are synonymous with the highest quality furniture and interior design. With the acquisition of Skagerak, we can now offer our customers, individuals and professionals, a broader product offering while strengthening our activity in our home market as well as internationally. “
Fritz Hansen expands globally
Skagerak CEO Jesper Panduro said the acquisition gives Skagerak a “perfect home”.
“Skagerak stands for longevity and responsibility in design and aesthetics, ensuring that the products we make will last for generations,” he said.
“We are very happy to be part of the Fritz Hansen family and a company with an exceptional reputation, a strong culture and a long-term perspective. We have found the perfect home for Skagerak.”
Fritz Hansen is currently expanding globally and recently opened a showroom in Shanghai to be its newest outpost in China.
The brand has worked with many renowned designers, including Nendo and Vico Magistretti, both of whom have launched chairs with the Danish company.
