Going Green – A group of national agencies opens the first ‘su…

Leaders Romans Group has launched what it claims is its first sustainable branch rental agency.

Its Brighton city center branch, operating under the Leaders brand, enlisted green office and retail design consultancy Jackson Associates to completely renovate and design the office to new green principles.

All materials used have been produced with longevity in mind, to ensure that the branch is not only durable today, but will remain so for years to come.

An important feature was that every element of the office was made in the UK, or ideally locally in Brighton to limit transport emissions and support local green suppliers.

The branch is powered entirely by renewable energy, while all furniture is 100% recycled or reused and will be recycled at the end of its life. There are also so-called ‘circular’ carpets – these are made from 65% post-industrial recycled content and the supplier will reuse and recycle the carpet when it reaches the end of its life.

In addition to the campaign for sustainable branches, LRG announces that it will plant 16,000 trees by 2023, in partnership with a group called GreenTheUK.

David Wilson, Chief Operating Officer at LRG, comments: “The real estate industry has a key role to play in stemming the devastating effects of climate change. We already know that more renters and homeowners are prioritizing green home improvements to limit personal carbon emissions and it’s critical that this trend is replicated at an industry level.

“We are proud to be at the forefront of greener property management and developing a sustainable approach to business and real estate. It’s time for the real estate sector to take on the next big challenge and step in to help green the industry.
