A former guard is suing a chartered school management organization, alleging he was sexually harassed by his boss and ordered her to perform personal chores for her.

Virgil Patterson’s lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against the Inner City Education Foundation and Debra Price-Madere was filed on Wednesday and his allegations include wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, gender-based violence, the fact of ” intentionally inflicting emotional distress and various violations of civil rights and the State Labor Code. .

Patterson seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. An ICEF representative said on Monday that the organization could not comment on pending or pending litigation.

ICEF operates seven charter schools and was one of the first charter school management organizations in Los Angeles. Patterson worked at View Park Middle School and was hired by ICEF in June 2012 as a guard, according to the lawsuit.

During his employment, Patterson was asked to perform other duties beyond guard duty, including the construction and demolition of ICEF property, the extermination and disposal of rodents and the Removal and removal of mold, even if he had no training to do the job, says the lawsuit.

Patterson was not given any personal protective equipment and took medical leave after falling ill, the suit says.

Additionally, Price-Madere ordered Patterson to pick up her dry cleaning, run errands for her, set up rat traps, pick up items at her house, and move furniture around her house, according to the costume. She also asked Patterson to hand over money to her daughter and help her son with his car engine problems, the lawsuit says.

Patterson was also sexually harassed by Price-Madere, who allegedly said she had sexual dreams about him, and he was not paid for any of the extra chores he performed beyond babysitting. depending on the suit.

Even though Patterson does not have a teaching degree, he was told to educate college students in a gang intervention class as a condition of his employment, according to the lawsuit.

Other duties unrelated to Patterson’s care included attending parent / student conferences, communicating with parents as a staff-parent liaison, mentoring and counseling exceptional students, breaking up of student brawls and safety in basketball and football games, depending on the combination.
