Japanese design company combines human bed and cat tower, proves felines are the ones who run the house

Because really, your whole house is your cat’s playground, right?

There’s nothing wrong with admitting that your cat is the true owner of your home. Sure, it might be you who go to work and earn the money that pays the rent, and it might be your name on the rental lease, but that’s just because such social constructs between humans are below the dignity of a feline, and at no time should you forget that it is your cat who truly holds dominion over your shared living space (i.e. the space that your cat allows you to share with it).

It therefore goes without saying that any furniture in your home should take your cat’s desires into account, with your human needs having, at most, secondary importance. That includes your bed, and here’s a way to align it more with proper priorities is a Tokyo-based interior company dinosaurs.

Called on bed with no cat, the design resembles a four-poster bed, with tall posts at each corner. The footboard, however, is fitted with ledges that lead upwards to the top of the frame, with a cut of round windows in the way, for your cat (or cats) to climb up and play on..

Dinos says the design lets you see your cats’ faces until the moment you fall asleep and from the moment you wake up..

Once your climbing kitties have made it to the top…

…they will find narrow and wide sections for walking and relaxing.

The bed with Cat Step is available in both single and semi-double sizes, measuring 99 and 124 centimeters (39 and 48.8 in) respectively, and the top of the frame is 184.6 centimeters off the ground. If you’re wondering if this will work with your cat’s size, each of the steps are 31 centimeters high and the round openings are 24 centimeters in diameter. The single-size frame is priced at 352,000 yen ($3,060) and the semi-double at 418,000 yen (packages including a mattress are 352,000 and 467,280 yen).

The bed is available here via the Dinos webshop. Oh, and don’t forget to ask your cats if they’d like a Japanese cat oden for dinner, too.
