‘Selling Sunset’s Amanza Smith Talks Working For Group O, Home Staging Challenges [Exclusive]

Showbiz Cheat Sheet caught up with one of Group O’s agents, Amanza Smith, to talk about what it’s like working for Brett and Jason Oppenheim. During our conversation, Amanza also revealed some of the challenges she faces in hosting homes.

Amanza Smith dreamed of designing the house

While speaking with Amanza on Zoom in April 2022, we learned of her early life in real estate. “I got into real estate because I was already working for the Oppenheim Group as a staging and design specialist,” she said. “When I moved to Los Angeles, I used to drive through Beverly Hills and look at the houses. I was always drawn to the architecture of beautiful houses.

From an early age, Amanza knew she wanted to work in real estate in some capacity. “I love going on house tours…it’s just as exciting for me to see a multi-million dollar home as probably anyone else who watches the show. It’s always something different.

Amanza continued, “I’ve worked a million different types of jobs in my life and…on my lunch breaks I’d go to a house or a furniture store…and I’d always look at interiors and things for them. houses. At the end of her lunch breaks, Amanza said it was “a pain in the ass” to have to go back to her desk job. Now she no longer has this problem.

Working at the Oppenheim Group ‘seems fun’ for Amanza Smith

As a real estate agent and home stager, working for the Oppenheim Group is always a source of inspiration for sell sunset star. “It’s something I really enjoy,” she tells us. “It doesn’t feel like work, but more like fun.”

Besides enjoying her work, Amanza works with some of her best friends. She was friends with Mary Fitzgerald and the Oppenheim twins long before sell sunset existed. Now his circle of friends has grown, including Chrishell Stause and several other O group agents.

Amanza Smith sometimes has difficulty staging homes

Like any job, there are challenges Amanza faces as a home stager. “The Hardest Part of Staging Jobs [are] those that are not completely empty,” said the sell sunset star. “I can’t just start over.”

This is the case when clients wish to use some of their own personal effects in the staging. “You have to stage what already exists; for me it’s the most difficult because I like to have a blank slate to be able to use my own creativity.

Other times, Amanza ran into a challenge with “poorly laid out” spaces, homes with “architectural changes” and walls that shouldn’t be there, or those with “oddly shaped rooms.” Amanza clarified, “It’s hard to stage things that don’t really make sense in space.” Despite the challenges she sometimes faces at work, Amanza always makes homes glamorous and ready to sell.
